I don’t see how that matters: Taylor Swift isn’t.
I know this isn’t your intention, anon, but I honestly don’t see why everyone so fiercely jumps to her defense. The way everyone seems to tell it, she’s some kind of constant victim who’s can’t seem to stop falling into situations that make her look bad. In reality, she’s a grown woman, fully capable of making her own decisions, who consistently makes bad ones.
I anticipate at least one other anon to tell me that “she just didn’t see it,” and to them I have this to say: The fact that someone was able to request a photo and pose with her for it without her noticing the giant red swastika painted on his chest does not at all help her case.
And another anon might tell me that the swastika was a symbol of life or wisdom or peace before the nazis got to it, but that doesn’t matter because the nazis got to it. Sorry, they ruined it forever, and unless both Taylor Swift and that guy were both members of a culture that used it that way and completely unaware of its use under the nazis, it’s totally not okay.
I’m not saying Taylor Swift is a Nazi, or that the dude she posed with was a Nazi. I’m saying that dude is an asshole, and that this picture further convinces me of something I was already pretty certain of: Taylor Swift is also an asshole.
