Because she was totally awesome even before Molly Ringwald changed her appearance, and the only thing that changed in that makeover was her appearance.
So if what’s-his-name only thought she was in any way attractive after her looks changed, then he’s only into her for her looks. If none of her qualities made him want to date her, then her looks changed, and he wanted to date her after that, then he’s incredibly shallow, and is only attracted to her because her makeup was done by Molly Ringwald.
I just feel like someone that interesting deserves better than someone who only wants them for their appearance.

Haha, it was good from beginning to end (I wasn’t even through the opening credits when I posted that), I just thought it would be funny if everyone had orchestrated the longest-running prank ever, creating an absolutely pointless movie and instructed everyone who watched it to pretend it was the gold standard of teen movies and pass on the instructions to anyone they showed it to, and that my friends and family, escalating the prank, coordinated to make sure I “never got around” to watching said movie until I was at least 20.
Luckily, that didn’t happen. Although I do think we should do that as a psychological experiment (which is shorthand for “mess with people’s brains for fun just to see what would happen”).
